On Monday 1st August, 2016, CREST were privileged to welcome NI Finance Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir to our building. Minister Ó Muilleoir got a tour of our Passive Pavilion and the Research and Development Lab here in CREST. We here at CREST are receivers of EU funding and part of EU funded projects, so following the news of Brexit, both the Minister and ourselves felt it was important to show what this money and these programmes do for both the local economy, as well as regionally for both Northern Ireland and the Republic. This money enables us to bring specialised technologies to CREST and educate students and businesses alike, helping both to grow and develop. Education on matters such as renewable energies are vitally important as businesses, institutes and even homes look to renewable and sustainable methods of generating energy, for the positive financial and environmental impacts that these alternatives can offer.
